CATHLEEN ALICIA | ARTWORK PORTFOLIO

Visual art has been my oldest and most enduring passion. Continuously seeking to refine my craft, I explore a variety of mediums—from photography and linocutting to oil painting and digital illustration using Procreate. While I’ve applied my artistic skills to small-scale book projects and marketing materials, art remains my creative outlet. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques and embracing the challenge of bringing my ideas to life through new mediums, always looking for fresh ways to express and implement my creativity.

Wilderness Project
These illustrations are part of a personal series inspired by the North American wilderness and Indigenous communities, reflecting a deepening connection I’ve cultivated over the past four years. My work experience provided me with the privilege of learning more about the significance of land preservation. This ongoing body of work pays homage to the relationship between Indigenous people and the land, capturing both inspiration and respect through visual storytelling.
Digital Portraits
My portrait illustration style blends realism with a painterly, expressive approach. I use soft, fluid brushstrokes to add depth and texture, while incorporating bold, vibrant colors to bring the subject to life. I aim to capture the essence of each person through a balance of detail and abstraction, allowing the personality and emotion of the subject to shine through. This style allows me to creatively interpret my subjects while maintaining a strong connection to realism, making each piece both unique and engaging.
Nature Photography
This collection serves as artistic reference material for my professional projects and documents the seasonal changes in nature. I focus on capturing the beauty and detail of the outdoors. I like to highlight elements that are often overlooked and provide a fresh perspective, inviting others to appreciate its simplicity and complexity.

The Paradox of Education | Photography Assignment
This imagery was created for a student portfolio assignment where students were tasked with finding a piece of classical fine art in a museum and recreating it through photography. Samando Scott discovered a notable absence of historical representation of Black individuals and artists in the fine art world, prompting reflection on the lack of diversity in Western and European art history.
